Is there a credit blacklist?

It is a myth that a central list of people exists that no lender will touch, there is no such thing as a credit 'blacklist'. 

Lending institutions base their decision on whether to offer you a credit card, loan or mortgage based in information you give them during the application process and your credit file which contains certain information which might improve or reduce your chances of getting credit.

Each lender will use the information you provide when you make an application for credit and the information in your credit file  to help it make its own lending decisions. Different lenders make different decisions and use different criteria, even though they generally use the same sources of information.
